Ambassadors in Sport celebrated yet another successful Gala Dinner, their 3rd annual fundraiser, benefiting the Hope Academy Project. This year’s event, held on November 4th, raised approximately R60000 for the project with more than 200 guests spending the evening enjoying the junior freestyle grand finale while dining in a social atmosphere.
The Event Sponsors, LegalWise and Ambassadors in Sport helped transform the Wanderers Club into a sports setting and a formal dining atmosphere. The Gala was co-sponsored by The Lee Sharpe Foundation and The Booth Sport and Education Foundation that donated sports memorabilia for the auction.
Matthew Booth’s Bafana Bafana jersey sold for R15000 making this item the second largest amount auctioned, with the largest sum, R17000 rand, coming from the sale of a framed photo of Nelson Mandela holding the World Cup trophy and 10 rare mint Mandela coins.
Tim Tucker, Director of AIS Africa, welcomed all, as the guests were treated to an exquisite dinner followed by an evening of freestyling entertainment and stories from former Manchester United and English Footballer, Lee Sharpe.
Medals were given to all 20 freestyle competitors and special gifts, donated by Powerade, were awarded to the winners of each age group. Tony Fornali, Vice Chairman of LegalWise, addressed the freestylers and encouraged them to continue to practice and perfect their freestyling skills.
Congratulations, the Gala was a stunning success. Everyone associated with AIS is very proud that all proceeds from the event will be contributed to the Hope Academy project.
