Match for a Day 2010MFAD_18_hour

The 2010 LegalWise Match for a Day (MFAD) was a great success, with over 15 teams and 150 players participating in the 18-hour football marathon fundraiser.

Fan favorites and AIS All-Stars team players; Matthew Booth, Matthew Pattison, and Sam Pam were on hand to celebrate the launch of Ambassadors in Sport and LegalWise’s new Hope Academy.  They also came prepared to dazzle the crowd with their football athleticism.

Their first match was against the relentless Little Legends Foundation (LLF) team.  Unfortunately, the AIS All-Stars were outplayed and outscored by the unstoppable and undefeated LLF team.  They did not stand a chance against Little Legends as their team played host to top goal scorer, Rafique Hassim.  However, defeat did not dampen the spirits of the AIS All-Stars players, as they were all smiles and cordiality while endlessly signing autographs for starry-eyed fans.

After capturing the title for most consecutive games, with seven wins, Little Legends Foundation hung up their football boots.  This left the door wide open for Legends B and goalie of the tournament, Byron Govender, to prevail over AIS to win the final match of the game and become the Last Team Standing.  The Legends teams spectacular performances allowed them to claim the winners prizes and be crowned champions of Match For A Day 2010.

Included in the day’s events was a freestyle tournament hosted by professional freestylers, Doctor and Subs.  This event marks the third of five heats where freestylers of various ages showcased their abilities and skills.

To top things off, this year’s event offered a mini women’s tournament and a brief break-dancing interlude, where young talent had the opportunity to display their aptitude for headstands and hanging airbabies.

All-in all the day’s events went off without a hiccup and all participants went home happy, particularly those on the Legends teams!
