Welcome to the LegalWise Hope Academy, Soweto
LegalWise Soweto Hope Academy was launched in October 2010. The Academy is run in Dobsonville in the heart of Soweto, South Africa's largest township. Soweto is based 16km outside of Johannesburg and is the home to approximatley 1 million people. Soweto has a decorated history known for it's role in the struggle for liberation, its diverse culture and it;s prominent residents. Soweto was also where two Nobel prize winners, Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu once lived.
It is also known for producing some of South Africa's brightest soccer stars such as Steven Piennar and Teko Modise (both South African International Players) and is also the home to the two largest supported clubs in South Africa, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
The Soweto Academy is based at the Siziwile School for the Deaf in Dobsonville and oversees both U9 boys and U9 girls. The Academy is aimed at developing these children over many years, producing a generation of leaders on and off the soccer field that will in turn bring hope and transformation within Soweto in the future.
Trials were completed in August 2010 and the final Academy squad was selected and the Academy is already making a huge impact on the lives of these young children, their families and the community.
