Ambassadors in Sport-Zambia Academy defender Mweene Mumbi was recently selected to the Zambian National under 17soccer team preparing for the African Cup qualifier with Ghana. Mweene was the youngest player in the Zambian National team. “Though I did not play in the first eleven, I was happy to be part of the team, being the youngest I was not afraid, God always protects me so I remained focus."
Mweene, now aged 15, started playing soccer at the age of 7.” At that age I discovered that soccer is my talent." Mweene said. His elder brother introduced him to the beautiful game of soccer and eventually he developed the passion for the game. In 2005, at the age of 10, he joined Ambassadors in Sport development academy. Since then he has captained the under 12s and 14s in the Academy. In 2008 and 2009 respectively he played in the Under 17s that qualified to the Lusaka Football Association. "I am dedicated and determined in soccer and that’s the reason why I am improving," he said. Listening to the coaches advice is another key to developing in soccer. Mweene advises the fellow youths who are pursuing soccer career to put God first."
Mweene's mother is extremely excited by his selection to the national squad, “I saw the potential in my son since he was at Pre-Grade. He really loved playing soccer at the tender age," she said. ”Also when I send him to the shops to buy food he could carry soccer with him. I encourage Ambassadors in Sport to continue developing young People through soccer as there share the gospel of Jesus worldwide.”
